Valentine's Day 2008

We had a nice night at home with our family.

The boys opened presents and cards.

Tim got a dozen roses for Me (Maria) and gave me a card he had been saving for 3 states and about 9 years! - sorry, I accidentally deleted the picture, bummer cuz they were really pretty flowers! 6 Purple Roses and 6 Red ones.

February is here...January is gone

January was such a typical January for us, and for that I am grateful. We have, for the past 6 years had a Trip to MN (to celebrate Christmas), High School retreat, and The Covenant Youth Workers Connection/MidWinter. This year was fabulously close to the same. Although we did not get to MN this January, we enjoyed a few more out of town guests than normal, so it kept us busy. Our High School retreat was 'unfortunately' to Monarch Mountain in CO to ski...see the first 2 pictures. Suffering for the Lord, that's what we like to call it.

The boys were able to stay in MN with family during the ski trip and they had a blast too. Pretty sure Grammas and Grampas, Aunties and Uncles were happy to see them too.

Youth Worker Connection was in Chicago this year and Tim and I enjoyed a great weekend connecting with lots of friends from miles away. It did my heart well to receive and give lots of hugs and share conversation with many friends I see once a year, but others I talk with often. We had a relaxing and wonderful time, while the boys stayed in Kansas with some of our newest family from Hillcrest - all parties involved had a blast!

Haircut...The Mullet is Gone

We squeezed in Josiah's first haircut in between Tim and I's trip to Colorado with our High School students and our Covenant Youth Workers Connection in Chicago this weekend (Tim was home for 2 days and Maria home for 4). Anyways, not knowing the Kansas City are all that well and not knowing a hairstylist in our church or anything, we took Josiah to the local beauty school! Yes, that was My choice...$5.00, can't beat that. Tim laughed when we were on the way and I told him where we were going.

There was a team of stylists by the time we were done, holding Josiah, cutting his hair, trying to get his attention, etc...It was quite comical.
Josiah did sit very still at the beginning and they were all very impressed. Of course, they all thought he was adorable

Josiah was a very happy customer and quite satisfied. He is now officially a little boy! No more baby locks.

Now, let the running begin!

Kansas in January

So....I love being outside & believe that God has blessed us with a few 60 degree days in December in January to encourage me and lift my spirits!

The boys and I were able to get out and walk to our little park just .5 miles from the house, yesterday.

Caleb had a great time swinging, playing king
of the castle and making a few new friends - girls! It was great.

Josiah enjoyed crawling in the dirt and woodchips, not eating very many!

Christmas in Kansas

Our first Christmas in Kansas & we went out to hunt and chop down our Christmas tree - one of our few traditions in the Ciccone household. When low and behold we brought home a Christmas tree from the tree farm that was shipped there from Michigan! What are the odds?

Here we are: Tim, Caleb, Maria, Laurey Kiehne (our nanny) and Josiah

Caleb's highlight of the trip was the Big horse

and Little horse he befriended.

Much to Caleb's dismay we kept him on our side of the fence. Caleb was convinced that he could and should go into the field with the horses. He did not learn this from his mom, that's for sure! It felt really good to do something ordinary to kick off our Christmas celebrating.
